The creator of the popular television show Family Guy has made his movie directing debut, with the production Ted. This movie from Seth McFarlane tells the story of a partying, drug smoking, promiscuous teddy bear from New England. It is hardly surprising when you read about this character that it is something that could only have come from the creator of Family Guy. For those who enjoy the television show, they are probably going to find this movie rather entertaining. In many ways this is a version of the television show which has made it onto the big screen and it has all of the racial humor, non sequiturs and flashbacks that will be familiar to viewers of Family Guy. Even the music will seem very familiar to fans of the television show as there are the strange orchestral blips that occur between each scene. The lead character of Ted is actually voiced by McFarlane himself and the voice of the character sounds very similar to the lead from Family Guy, Peter Griffin. This movie seems to have the attitude that if you throw enough jokes at the audience, some of them are actually going to work. That said, most of them actually do, and the entire movie is very funny. It is somewhat predictable, but it is sweeter than you might think it would be. For anyone who comes from this part of the United States they will probably have their heart warmed by it, but for anyone else this will be lost on them. The story starts in the 1980s, where the character John, played by Mark Wahlberg, wishes that his teddy bear were alive. His wish comes true and the teddy bear becomes his friend for life. They are now living together in the US and both of their lives have not exactly turned out as they had planned. John is working a dead-end job, and Ted spends a large amount of his time getting drunk and reliving the fame that he enjoyed in the past for being such a strange creature. Despite his strange relationship with his teddy bear, John still has a successful relationship of four years with Lori, who is played by Mila Kunis. Interestingly, she is also responsible for creating the voice of Meg on the television show. It is clear that something big is going to happen in the movie and this is when his girlfriend presses John to commit to her more seriously. The movie doesn't make it seem as if she's being overly demanding, and it works rather well, encouraging John to move away from his rather childish ways. This is the central conflict of the film and it is interesting to see how he is torn between his lifelong friendship, and his girlfriend. The movie, almost surprisingly, does work very well, and as you would expect it is very funny. The material the movie works because Ted and Wahlberg work well together, and Wahlberg delivers some of his best work to date. Watch Ted Online
