Scottsdale Scottsdale is a secret gem of the U.S. It is probably one of the most beautiful places with parks, natural landscapes and the most breathtaking resorts. It also has some of the best golfing, spas and shopping, if you are into that. Travel to Arizona is fun. Their private airports offer numerous options and some may actually be close to the resort or town where you will be staying. The most cost-effective approach to flying privately into Scottsdale is to use the private airport in Phoenix. One of the reasons to fly private is to avoid the long drives and hassle. However, much of Arizona is desert area. There are not many street lights. Driving from KPHX to Scottsdale at night can be difficult because of low lighting. An alternative is to fly into Deer Valley but unless the property where you will be staying is close by, you could be driving for quite some time in the dark as well. To tell you simply how much I love it - they have a mountain on the property to climb; yes, a mountain! The resort is set up hacienda-style, with cottages all around. Some are two-stories high while others are flat; some even have a private Jacuzzi. It did take us almost thirty minutes to drive to the local malls, but being that far in the country made me happy. Another great aspect of Scottsdale is the terrific food. They have some great Southwest restaurants that embody the Mexican, Native American and Tex-Mex culture and cuisine. Some of the highly-recommended places are on the Scottsdale/Phoenix border though, which made for a long drive. I don’t need to mention the heat.
