Many years ago, people will be sent to prison if they owed a lot of money to someone else. Unfortunately, a London businessman owed the usurer. Old and ugly, this usurer was interested in this London businessman’s daughter, who was beautiful and young. Therefore, he put forward a deal and said that he would cancel the London businessman’s debts as long as he could marry his daughter. Upon hearing this propose, both of the London businessman and his daughter were terrified. Then this cunning usurer said that it should be determined by God and he would put two cobblestones into an empty purse, one was white, the other was black. Then the girl should choose one of them randomly. If she chose the black cobblestone, she had to marry the usurer and the debt would be cancelled. On the contrary, if she chose the white cobblestone, he could stay with her father and the debt would be cancelled too. However, if she refused to do that, her father would be sent to prison at once and she would start suffering from starvation. Finally, the London businessman was unwilling to accept this proposal. At that moment they stood in the backyard of the usurer nervously, and the unfortunate girl prayed to God silently. Thank Goodness, she chose the white cobblestone and the usurer kept his promise eventually. Of course, it was quite a happy end, but it is no deny that this proposal is very unfair to this girl. She had to run a risk for the sack of her beauty, love and youth. To be honest, I show much sympathy for her. In my opinion, I will also take this proposal when I meet this situation, which is hard for me to make determinations. In my heart, families are the most important in my life, and I am willing to devote everything to them but aiming at nothing. Even if I had to marry a man that I don’t love, I will try to help my family lead a happy life. Maybe in many people’s eyes, it is foolish of me to take such actions, but I never regret doing them in my whole life. As the old saying goes, every coin has two sides, so we should treat things with a clear conscience. Finally, are you interested in our colorful cobblestones?
