The Royal Norfolk welcomed festival goers and their exotic cars such as the Lamborghini Gallardo Spyder and Ferrari 575m to stay before they headed out to enjoy the Goodwood Festival of Speed held 28th June – 1st July. This annual event brings together an impossibly heady mix of cars, stars and motor sport ‘royalty’ to create the largest car culture event in the world. A beautiful hotel in an idyllic setting the Royal Norfolk hotel is one of the most popular Leisureplex Hotelsand Leisureplex’s own king of speed, Hotel Manager Lucas Jans, said “Many great cars have visited us here at the Royal Norfolk but I must admit my heart did skip a beat when I heard the roar of the Lamborghini, maybe I could ask to borrow the keys and take it for a spin”. This year’s sell out event was the biggest ever and included Lotus’60th anniversary celebration. On display were dozens of significant road and racing cars as well as appearances by many drivers who made them great on the track such as Sir Stirling Moss, John Surtees and Emerson Fittipaldi. 2012 also saw eight Formula One World Champions including Jenson Button, Lewis Hamilton, Sebastian Vettel and Sir Jackie Stewart tackle the principal attraction, the famous GoodwoodHill Climb, a very technical and challenging white-knuckled 1.16-mile course that rises over 300ft from the start line to finish. In special tribute to the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee the ever-popular Cartier Style et Luxe Concours held an unparalleled - and unprecedented - display of the Queen’s limousines alongside state vehicles from France, Germany and America. Being just a few miles from the Goodwood grounds, the Royal Norfolk hotel is ideally situated for visiting the Goodwood Festivals as well as places of interest such as Arundel, Chichester, Portsmouth and England’s newest National Park, the South Downs. The Grade II listed Georgian property commands a most enviable position on Bognor’s picturesque Esplanade with extensive lawns and channel views and has undergone extensive refurbishment since it was purchased by the Leisureplex Hotel Group two years ago. Works include the installation of a new passenger lift, refurbishment of the existing rooms and the addition of a further 13 en-suite bedrooms, bringing the total number of guest rooms to 61. The Leisureplex Hotel Group has been operating seaside hotels for a generation. Each of the 20 unique properties (many of which are listed buildings) is situated in the best possible positions within their resorts and is close to numerous famous attractions.
