Leggings returned to high street fashion some years ago now and today most women would consider them a staple of their wardrobe. The reason that leggings are so popular is because they can achieve both comfort and style without breaking the bank. In the winter they are a warmer alternative to tights and in the spring (or British summer!) they can be worn with pumps or flip-flops as part of a smart-casual outfit. Often women choose to wear plain coloured leggings, typically black, but this summer there is a massive range of fun patterns and prints for you to choose from so why not get creative and try something new and different? Since the latest trends were first released in London fashion week earlier this year the high street stores have been adorned with bright colours and bold prints. The general rule of thumb seems to be the more it stands out the better. This trend is great if you are a young teen or a keen follower of fashion with lots of time and money to devote to your passion, but for anyone else the world of bright, clashing patterns should be approached with caution. That is not to say you should avoid this trend altogether, in fact, it is a trend that can be pretty much worn by anyone provided you choose your outfit carefully. Unless you know what you are doing it is best to stick to one bold patterned garment per outfit and if you really want to make a statement then choose something patterned for your bottom half. There are lots of patterned trousers in the shops but with the right pair of leggings you can make your outfit as bold as you like. Choosing a pair of patterned leggings is a great option because they can be teamed with a top or dress. If you feel that patterned trousers would make you feel uneasy, especially if they are tight around the bum, then leggings are ideal because you can choose a top or dress that hides the top of your thighs and bum. The look is a little more sophisticated but still fun and completely on trend. There are lots of fun patterns and designs to experiment with but if you are new to patterned leggings and would prefer to start with something a little more reserved then why not choose a pair of striped leggings? Vertical stripes are slimming and make your legs look longer so what more could you want!
