The market today offers a much smarter alternative to conventionally plastic grommets. This alternative is an adhesive grommet tab. It’s highly recommended because it’s strong, inexpensive and very easy to install. Plastic grommets are placed along the edge of a banner so as to insert a rope that would ultimately be used to put up a banner. While these components are very handy, they do come with their share of drawbacks—one of the most common ones being the fear of the grommet coming off. However, the market today offers a much smarter alternative to these conventionally used components. This alternative is an adhesive grommet tab. It’s highly recommended because it’s strong, inexpensive and very quick to install. What exactly are these adhesive tabs and how do they work? It’s simple. The tabs are pre-coated with a very strong adhesive. So when you need to use these tabs, all you need to do is peel off the protective plastic sheet from the adhesive’s surface. Then, you place one end of this tab on the edge of the banner and the other adhesive end goes over the other face of the corner. Press the tabs firmly and you’re ready to punch a hole between the eyelets of the tab to insert a rope. Adhesive grommet tabs have several advantages over regular plastic grommets: • You can make your banner blanks in a few minutes. You don’t need any special tools, except for a hole-punching device. • Since the adhesive grommets are very strong, they have a very superior grip over the edge of the banner. They are designed in a manner that helps to spread the stress of high-speed winds equally across the surface area. • In fact, studies carried out on this product have concluded that banners using the adhesive grommets can stand wind speeds of 50 to 70 miles per hour. • The best part is that the superior quality adhesive can stick to just about any surface. So if you have a banner or display sign that’s made of vinyl, polypropylene, polyethylene, Coroplast®, Valeron® or any other similar material, you can confidently use these components. • If you are using a rope with these grommets, then there are many ways in which you can fasten the banner. You can pass a rope either through the eyelets, or through the loop. The former is recommended for outdoor use and the latter for indoor use. • And, if you don’t need to loop, you can even cut it off, just leaving the tabs on either side of the banner. • While there’s not much choice about the mounting angle of regular plastic grommets, with the adhesive grommets you have ample choice. For instance, you can mount them vertically, horizontally or at an angle of 45 degrees. • Finally, it might interest you to learn that these particular components cost you much less than the conventionally used plastic grommets.
