Euro tech subsidiary Parvus announces tactical fiber optic mediasupport for the DuraNET(R) 1268, a rugged Layer 2 Gigabit Ethernetswitch subsystem equipped with ten (10) triple-speed10/100/1000Mbps ports for connecting IPv4 and IPv6 compatiblesensors and computing devices onboard demanding tacticalnetwork-centric (un)manned vehicle and aircraft platforms. Designedfor rugged extremes, this Size, Weight, and Power (SWaP)-optimizedCommercial-Off-the-Shelf (COTS) solution is well suited for C4ISRtechnology refresh and situational awareness upgrade programs.
Toenhance reliability, the unit features no moving parts, a nearcable-less internal design, all industrial temperature gradecomponents, EMI filtering, and a sealed dust/waterproof aluminumchassis with isolated MIL-STD-1275/704 power supply that protectsagainst vehicle/aircraft voltage surges, spikes and transients. Gigabit Ethernet interfaces are brought out over ruggedMIL-DTL-38999 connectors on the front panel and now optionallyTactical Fiber Optic Cable Assembly (TFOCA(R) II) connectors on therear.
These optical interfaces are designed to survive the harshestbattlefield conditions and were selected by the U.S. ARMY WIN-Tprogram as the standard next generation fiber optic connector formilitary tactical deployable networks. Managed and unmanaged switch configurations are available forconfigurable or "plug and play" Gigabit Ethernet LAN applications.The base DuraNET 1268 was previously qualification tested forextreme MIL-STD-461F EMI/EMC and MIL-STD-810G thermal, shock, vibe,humidity, altitude, and ingress conditions, as well as RTCA/DO-160Gairworthiness tests for low temperature and high altitudeoperation. The DuraNET 1268 features an onboard microprocessor forlocal/remote control and port monitoring, as well as support forQuality of Service (QoS) traffic prioritization, Virtual Local-AreaNetwork (VLAN) trunking, Telnet remote CLI management, and RapidSpanning Tree (RSP) redundancy.
