Want to know how to write a book step by step? Here is your simple condensed guide to getting your novel started right now. First you need an idea. I won't talk about where to find ideas here because that is covered in other articles, but you want to find something that is going to be somewhat "commercial," i.e. something the novel-reading public will want to buy and read. That is if you ever want to sell your book to a publishing house. So find an idea you are passionate about in some way. You need something to write about that you can carry through with from beginning to end. If you have no interest in it, you will find yourself putting it aside and never finishing. Now make a brief listing of your main characters and your secondary characters. Give them all a name and a brief synopsis of their personality. You can add to this later. Don't use similar names like Sheila and Shelly. It is a good idea to keep each character on a note card in a file box. Now sit down and write an outline for your novel. People tend to get very scared when told they must do an outline, but honestly it is really easy. If you have the general idea of your story, an outline is frighteningly easy. You can start with a very rough outline dividing your book into maybe three parts, what happens in the first, middle, and last part of the book, then you can break these areas down into chapters. This is not going to be set in stone but more a general idea. However, it does give you a step-by-step path to follow in writing your book, almost like connecting the dots. Once your outline is finished, you are ready to write. Using your outline, sit yourself down in a chair at your desk and as quickly as possible, write your book from start to finish. Why do it quickly? Because the faster you finish, the quicker you can get to rewriting, and rewriting is very easy because now you have done all the hard work. You'll just be refining and revising, but the heavy lifting is done. If you really set your mind to it and follow this step-by-step guide on how to write a book, you can be one of the few aspiring novelists who actually have a completed manuscript ready to submit to a publisher. dissertation writing service
