MOSCOW, May 20, 2012 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Universal Music announcedtoday that it will be sponsoring the EuraMedia 2012 Summit, whereits Director, Dmitry Konnov, has been nominated for a key prize atthe Innovators and Legends of Russian Media and EntertainmentAwards Banquet and Charity Fundraiser, hosted by Sarah JessicaParker and the eFashion and eLifestyle After-Party. Konnov hasconfirmed dance music crossover artist Roma Genga for the latterand is choosing with EuraMedia between Russia's top rock band Nochnie Snaiperi (Night Assassins), Vladmir Ashkenazy, Alsou, and DmitryKhorostovsky for the banquet, where they will perform alongside topUS acts. Universal Music Russia is Russia's largest music group in thecountry. The company distributes the work of US and otherinternational music celebrities, including Akon, Madonna, LadyGaga, Rihanna, Nicki Minaj, and The Scorpions, whose "Winds ofChange" has become the impromptu EuraMedia theme song, and nearlyone-hundred others, whose participation EuraMedia is confirming. Universal traditionally used such methods such as DVDs and CDs todistribute.
Since 2006, however, it has been focused on developingstreaming media platforms for new age distribution via variousschematics including monthly bulk purchase payments and individualmusic downloads. In particular, they've created the popular portalmuz.ru, where Russians are invited to listed to all music free ofcharge and simply pay for downloads of their favorite songs. Roma Kenga, who will be one of several artists to keep the eFashionand eLifestyle After-Party alive, is famous for Russian andcrossover club hits like Summer Night City, Samolety, Visoko andEverybody Dance. Last year, Summer Night City climbed to 18 th place on the US Billboard charts, where it stayed for severalweeks.
Roma Kenga will perform at the eFashion and eLifestyleAfter-Party. "I think that such events are really indispensable for the Russianmusic and media markets to grow and become powerful. The demand fordiversified content is constantly increasing in our country", said Director Dmitry Konnov, who will also be a speaker onmonetization of streaming muisc at the Summit.
