Why is it more advantageous to advertise in Philadelphia? Well you could ask that question if you were a business in any city.

If a business wants to effectively reach customers online, it is important to not only create an online campaign but to also advertise specific to the area that you want to draw in your customers. For example if you were a company in Philadelphia, you would want to Advertise in Philadelphia, just makes sense. You wouldn’t want to waste your marketing dollars in say Dallas when you don’t run a business in Dallas, unless you were looking for worldwide customers.

Keeping with the example of Advertising in Philadelphia, you could reach a specific geography based on the specific interests and needs of your customers. By selecting where and how you advertise, specifically online, you are creating an accessible way for your potential customers to reach you. It would not be necessary to print, create, or spend additional dollars on direct mail to reach your clients. If you advertise in Philadelphia, or a city that you own a business in, you can educate your buyers and gather data about their wants and needs.

The rules of advertising online have changed. It used to be that you could create a website, capture emails, put up some banners, and hope your prospect would find what you were selling. Times have changed as there are many more effective ways to reach your audience. It is important that advertisers target return on investment (ROI).

Several ways a business would advertise in today’s market would be through search engines, directories, vertical directories, portals, etc. When a business advertises through a search engine, your potential customer would type in a key word (hopefully related to your service or product), you would buy that keyword or ad for that keyword and when it is typed in, the search engine would produce your ad or information. If you were a company who wanted to find clients who want to “advertise in Philadelphia” then through your contract with the search engine, your company would be displayed.

If you wanted to be included in other online advertising directories, you would simply get your business indexed organically (by content) or you would pay to have your company added. If you wanted to advertise on portals horizontally, for example, Yahoo, MSN, AOL this would be a good option from the standpoint of business to consumer but not B2B (business to business).

It is important when considering your advertising campaign, that you work with a reputable agency that has a proven track record for ROI.
