In other words, actions of even a small number of individuals can tarnish the reputation of an entire. I believe you must have come cross similar conditions: some colleagues around you complain all day whether in weekly staff meetings or in the dinning room. Maybe they just want to say a few words to express their discouragement, but their bad moods will spread quickly. It is well known that bacteria and virus are infectious, but people seldom know that negative moods are also infectious. Some people name the infection of negative moods as “emotional pollution”. One of American scientists found that if a blissful and cheerful person got along with a sad and woebegone person the whole day, he would get upset before long. Besides, the stronger a person’s compassion and sensitivity are, the easier he would be infected by bad emotions. Besides, the infection of negative moods proceeds unconsciously and rapidly. If one person stays together with his lover, who is down in spirits, then his emotion will be infected in less than half an hour. Successful people control their own emotions well, but losers are controlled by their moods. The so called “winners” are people who overcome the most psychological barriers, for every person has different kinds of psychological barriers, large and small. There isn’t any perfect company or human being in the world. Hence, we should learn to put our attention to the advantages instead of disadvantages. Once we pay our attention to different aspects of problems, we will have different conclusions. When we look at the positive aspect, we will be optimistic; on the other hand, when we look at the negative aspect, we will be pessimistic. Nevertheless, a great many people choose pessimism spontaneously; hence they must learn to control their heed and emotions. In the whole voyage of life, pessimistic people are seasick all the way. No matter the situation is good or bad, they are disappointed with their futures. In the eyes, the glass is half empty instead of half full. Therefore, they will predicate the worst result, and so it does. To be honest, after reading this story, I have realized the importance of keeping optimistic in our life.
