Having a car accident is one of the saddest moments of one’s life. One feels very helpless after an accident, and obviously wants to resolve the situation as soon as possible. You often need a car to get here and there and well losing a car to an accident serves as a very big hindrance. It’s very stressful, but it is very important to remain calm in such situations. Keeping calm will enable you to make smart decisions at such a crucial moment, and determining the salvage value of your car will help you do just that. Once you have calculated that, you can decide where to go from there. First of all you would need an insurance company to declare that your car is a ‘total loss’ in order for it to obtain its salvage title. They do so when the costs of repairs for your car surpass a certain percentage of the total value of the car. You should know that only these companies can calculate the salvage value of your car once it has received its salvage title. You can however come up with a rough estimation to determine what options are now available to you. You should look into the retail and resale value of your car, and how much money you can get if you were to sell your car at this point in time. You can search many websites online which can provide you the information you will need about your salvage (or Har du brug for bjergning as we Danes say). Now the most important step will come, calculating the worth of your car right before the accident. The main idea is to reduce the price that you have calculated earlier. You can do this by taking factors such as engine and body damage, mileage, and age of the car into consideration and reducing the value accordingly. A bit of research can help you in this task. You can browse car ads to find a car which is as old as yours and in similar condition. This way you can tell the approximate price of your car currently. The final step is to then apply the insurance company percentage to determine the price of our car, which would be its salvage value. So this process will give you a good estimation, but do keep in mind that it is always the insurance company which has the last say and your estimation might differ from theirs. So keep these guidelines in mind and you will get a better idea of what further options are available to you. There is hope for your car after an accident after all; all it takes is some research and a calm mind to pull through. Do look into your car’s insurance procedures and read the terms and conditions to give you a better idea of how the process is going to work. Information is vital to the situation. As long as you do some research on the matter, you will have no trouble at all. Good luck with all your car troubles!
