Klown From the moment you read the title you should have a pretty good idea that Klown is going to be a hilarious movie, but if you had any doubt then the news that this is easily one of the funniest films of the summer might push you into the theaters to see it. The film is based on the Danish television series by Mikkel Norgaard that came out in the late 2000s and is Norgaard’s first film. It first was released in his own country back in 2010, but since then it has made a splash at international festivals allowing it to get some exposure over in the states. One of the reasons it is so popular is because the content inside of the movie is very daring and graphic. It is not so much pornographic, although a few of the scenes may be pushing the lines, but instead it simply goes where most American directors will not, which makes it stand out as a film that really wants to put its money where its mouth is. In short, this is the Hangover that everyone really wanted, the one that stopped at nothing to get the laugh that you are waiting so hard for. Of course, how much of a hit it becomes now that it has made it to America is questionable given the fact that it has subtitles and may be a bit too offensive for Americans that are used to censorship. Casper Christensen plays the title role of Casper, along with Frank Hvam, and the duo are about to leave on a vacation together without their girlfriends allowing them to have some fun in the sun by themselves for once. However, although the girls think that they will canoeing, camping, and doing some male bonding out in the woods the boys know that they are really looking for a brothel that is said to be out in the wilderness. The boys refer to the trip as the ‘Tour De Pussy’ after a guy from their book club tells them about the brothel. Of course, Frank is not to too happy when he sets out on the trip because his girlfriend played by Mia Lyhne has just told him that she is pregnant, but she is not sure that he will turn out to be a great father so she is thinking about leaving him. In order to prove that she is wrong about his ability to be a responsible father he kidnaps the 12 year old she is supposed to be babysitting for the weekend. As you might imagine, Casper is not too happy about the fact that now they have a 12 year old along for their weekend pussy tour, but this fact does help add some nice humor to the film. At times the film may be a bit offensive, and it is certainly a great ride to be along for, but the one thing it never does is get into slapstick comedy for a cheap laugh and that is what sets it apart from all its summer movie counterparts.
