If you dream of writing a book - whether it be a novel, a self-help book, or a memoir - but you can't bear the thought of spending years bent over a desk scribbling away at it, you're not alone. Thousands of would-be writers have given up on their dream because the task seems too daunting. They want to write a book, but they don't want to take a lifetime to do it. Well, the truth is, it may not take as long you think. There are many tricks that can help you to write a book quickly. One of the first things you can do to save time is create an outline. How does your story begin? What's the "inciting incident"? Where do the plot twists occur? How does the rising action develop? What's the climax? Planning out the shape of your novel will make it easier for the writing to flow. Section by section, chapter by chapter, the more detailed you make your outline the more information you'll have once you actually begin. And the more quickly you'll write your book. Another way to speed up the process is to set goals for yourself. Three pages a day - twenty pages a week - see what you can realistically produce. Some writers only write a page a day. But even with that you should be able to write the first draft of a book in less than a year. Double that, and you'll do it in six months. Consistency - and keeping that promise to yourself to write - are what count. Another trick to writing a book quickly is to "write through" to the end. Every writer knows that rewriting is necessary. Nothing comes out perfect in the first draft. But going back too soon, or too often, can interrupt the flow of your writing. It takes discipline, and willpower, but try to keep going, without looking back, until you've completed a first draft. You'll be surprised how much more efficient the revising will be. Most of our dreams never materialize because we're afraid of failure. It's easier to say "I could have been a great writer" than to actually sit down and start writing. But once you develop the habit of writing, and of writing every day, you'll find that the work proceeds quickly and easily. Don't put it off. Don't make excuses. Start today -- and you'll soon be the author of a book! buy research paper
