Many people had grabbed the opportunity and availed a flight promotion to London to witness the remarkable 2012 London Olympics. Hotel rooms had been booked and preparations had been made. However, there is one thing which should be considered and get familiar with: London transportation. The public transportation in London is not really something to whimper about. It may be a little tricky, considering the varieties and the fact that London is one of the biggest cities in the world; but it sure is easy to understand. 1. The Tube London is known for its underground trains. There is a huge network of it that runs around the city, covering the important destinations. It features 11 lines which serve 170 stations. If coming to London for the Olympics, using the Tube is advisable as all event venues are easily accessed by it – except the ExCeL, Greenwich Park and Woolwich Arsenal. 2. Dockland’s Light Railway (DLR) Whatever The Tube can’t cover, the Dockland’s Light Railway reaches it. Known as the first light rail system in Britain, DLR covers the south to east area of London and efficiently transports people to ExCeL, Greenwich Park, Woolwich Arsenal and The Royal Artillery Barracks. 3. London Overground The easiest way to get to the Olympic Park is to use the London Overground. It is a transportation system which features a network of rail services which aim is to cover the city center efficiently so that locals would not have to walk so far to a station. 4. Buses Typical for any UK city is the extensive network of buses. In London, the buses are efficient and safe, and relatively cheaper. Although it could be slower than trains as it pass through traffic, buses are considered the best mode of transportation to integrate sightseeing with commuting. There are stops near every London Olympics events. 5. River services Ferries and boats are also great ways to get to the venues efficiently. This mode of transportation basically avoids traffic and provides people with nice sightseeing opportunities. After all, London is very much interesting when seen from the river. The venues easily accessed by river are the Greenwich Park, North Greenwich Arena, The Royal Artillery Barracks, Horse Guard Parades, and Eton Dorney. Comfort in traveling does not end with availing that flight promotion to London. Touring the city by land is also as exciting as the 2012 London Olympics.
