Choosing the right glasses can often be a difficult task for most people. Most often, people tend to feel slightly overwhelmed and confused and thus rush into buying a frame, sunglasses or prescription glasses, that don’t suit them and maybe even look slightly comical. This can be quite an issue since a lot of people wear glasses 24/7 if they need them and thus constantly look bad when they can look much better with a pair of glasses that suit them. Following are a few tips you should keep in mind when you go to buy glasses. Know what will suit you and your face: It is best to have a clear idea of the purpose you want your glasses to serve before you purchase them. If you wish to stand out from the crowd, for instance, you can go for a funky, bright or oversized pair. Keep in mind that such a pair won’t go along with anything you wear or may not be appropriate for all occasions. Alternatively, you could go for discreet glasses; a pair that exudes sophistication, perhaps. This is a matter of personal taste basically but it would be a good idea to decide what you want beforehand so you can look for it exactly and not waste time or money buying the wrong pair. Check your face shape before you buy glasses (or Köpa billiga glasögon as Swedish people say). If your face is slightly round, square frames will work well. A rounded frame should soften a square face. Rectangular frames work with just about any face type and are also the most popular. They look best with a slightly elongated, oval face shape. Get a second opinion: When you get to whatever store you choose, try on lots of different pairs and see what works for you. If you have already determined what you want as advised above, only try pairs of that sort. The store assistant will probably help you in choosing a pair. Ask them what they think. If you don’t feel comfortable with that, take a friend or sibling along and ask for an honest opinion. Look at yourself in the mirror and figure out if you can stand wearing them every day before you buy glasses. Comfort: It isn’t all about how the glasses look on you. Make sure the pair you settle for fits well too. This means that it should not feel too heavy on the bridge of your nose, or push up against your eyes or fall off. You’ll know when you find the perfect frame. Lenses: You will probably have visited an optometrist before you set out to buy glasses. Once you have done so and have chosen a comfortable frame that you like, it’ll be time to select a lens too. Today, there are many options aside from the typical plastic or glass lens. You can choose the slightly more expensive polycarbonate lens which has the added advantage of being more lightweight. Then there are treatments, of which an anti-reflective coating for your lens is highly recommended.
