Nintendo upgrades the tech behind 3DS XL model Now that the new Nintendo 3DS XL is out; which is really just code for the super-sized version of the 3DS, the question on most people’s minds is what has changed from a technological viewpoint. After all, a larger screen is only going to be worth a few extra dollars, because what most gamers look for is a change in the experience of playing a game on a 3DS XL . For this change to happen you need to upgrade the technology, which is why a nice solid overview of the upgrades of the Nintendo 3DS XL is in order before you make any commitment to shell out the big bucks for the device. First up, those who like a little background music while they play will be glad to hear that the 3DS XL will have a new set of speakers placed inside of the case of the device to make it easier to hear the soundtrack of various games while playing on the hand held console. New speakers had to be designed based on the fact that the previous ones simply would not fit into the frame, but they were slightly modified and placed by the buttons and it was discovered that this was a great way to get complete sound. 3DS XL Another great step forward for the 3DS XL that gamers should instantly fall in love with is the fact that Nintendo has taken a close look at the operational controls and enhanced the way the buttons are placed on the gaming console to make them easier to use. For instance, if you take a look at all of the main buttons (A,B, X, Y, and the D-Pad) of the 3DS XL one thing you will notice straight away is that they are all thicker and noticeably bigger, making it easier to use them throughout every type of game. In addition, the thickness of the L and R buttons was also increased as they both grew a bit in height on the 3DS XL so that they are easier to use for smaller hands that have a bit more of a struggle to fit around the device. Even the Home, Start, and Select Buttons got a makeover with designers working hard to make the keys sink into the console so that they have a seesawing action to them somewhat like the old Start button on the standard Nintendo control. Finally, the one big step forward that most gamers have been waiting for since the first Game Boy came out in the nineties is anti-glare technology. Nothing is possibly more irritating then getting outside under the sun or sitting inside under a light and tilting a gaming console so that you can see past the glare. This time around with the 3DS XL, engineers have been able to treat all three layers of the LCD screen with anti-reflection technology reducing the amount of glare that the device radiates down to a very low three percent. In short, this is about as anti-glare of a gaming experience as you can get in the gaming market right now.
