We all love cats and if they have an appearance of wild spotted leopards, yet highly lovable and domesticated, we cannot ask for anything more. Bengal cat breeders have experimented and bred different types of cats. Some look like the exact miniature of Bengal leopard carrying the same color, spots and stripes as the bigger member of the family. Different Types Though they look like a leopard in appearance, they have a very soft temperament like that of a domestic cat. They are very cute in their looks and they enjoy playing with its owners. Unlike cats, this variety likes water and they love taking bath with their masters. They are friendly with fellow domestic animals and also with the children. They get adapted to the conditions of the home they live in. Breeding and Experiments The males are a bit larger in size than regular domestic cats; Females are smaller in size than their males. The breeders usually use second or third generation cats from Asian leopards but domestic Bengals are at least four generations away from their fierce ancestor. They are more active than the domestic cats and would love to play with their masters. The food, exercise and nutritional needs are almost same as domestic and Siamese varieties. There are about 60000 Bengals are there all over the world and experiments are still going on in making different varieties in design and appearance. Distinct Appearance Brown spotted tabby Bengals and blue –eyed seal lynx point and golden green eyed serpia varieties are dearer than other hybrid varieties of domestic bengal cats. The glitter variety with special shine It will take at least six months for a cat to develop into its full size and glory. Breeders are experimenting by giving different colors to the cats. Already there are colors like orange, golden, snowy white, black, blue torbie etc; there are differences in appearance like long hairs, flat faced etc. Many registries in the world like TICA have recognized this variety but Cat Fanciers' Association, the largest cat registry has not accepted this variety as this is a hybrid one.
