When I was 16 years old, I graduated from an ordinary middle school in my hometown and was admitted by a high school in a small town. Although the town was also poor, it was much more boisterous than our hometown. To a child coming from an isolated country, it was like a flourishing city. My parents repeatedly urged me to take good care of myself and helped me carry simple luggage. When thinking of the coming wonderful outside world, I felt very excited. To my surprise, I had fallen into nameless embarrassment since I signed up. When I lined up to pay tuition at the finance department and took crumpled money, I was laughed at by my classmates. At the time, I consciously observed them and found most them were well-clothed. On the contrary, I wore old clothes and shoes, so my dignity was hurt and I dropped tears sadly. If I had realized to absorb knowledge to fill poor life, maybe I would have become an excellent student and be admitted by a good university. But the strong vanity swallowed my reason and I swore to make my life dignified. From then on I started making different excuses to ask money from my parents and then bought fashionable clothes at once. In order to show my generosity, I learnt to smoke, drink, play video games and go shopping frequently with my classmates, which helped me make friends with a group of bullies quickly in the town. We skipped class together and wasted time in the video halls and billiards room. Naturally I did worse in my lessons, and when my parents asked me about my study, I would always cheat them or didn’t go home. Of course, my money ran out quickly, and my funny friends got tired with me and ignored me. Eventually I was enlightened and decided to turn over a new leaf. Therefore, I got up early everyday and studied from morning to night. Gradually, the college entrance examination was coming, and I was well prepared for it. After finishing the exams, I felt very confident that I could achieve a great success. Not surprisingly, I did well in the college entrance examination and was admitted by a famous university.
