There was an old basketball stadium on the way to Jake’s home, so everyday he would pass by there, stopped in front of the large window and saw new students practice playing basketball. Like them, Jake wished to wear blue T-shirt and dribble and dunk flexibly, but he was too poor to afford the tuition. A basketball suddenly flew towards Jake and fell down on the grassland. “Well, could you help us pick up the ball?” A little boy wearing blue gym suit lifted up his hands. Jake picked up the ball and made his efforts to throw the basketball, but the heavy schoolbag pulled him and he fell on the ground seriously. “Thanks, but you should be careful when playing basketball.” The boy said with a kind manner. Jake felt a bit embarrassed, and then he met the basketball coach, who looked very thin and tough like a frowned monster. Whether he was happy or sad, he was fond of whistle blowing instead of talking and kept silence like a monument when he was having a rest. “I had only the money, but I was keen to become a student of your summer training course for basketball. If the money wasn’t enough, I could do cleaning for compensation.” Jake said to the coach eagerly. “Do you have professional shirt, sneaker or kneecap?” The coach lay on the chair and said lightly. “No, I don’t.” Jake shook his head regretfully. “Dear child, it is beyond your ability to learn playing basketball, so you might as well play it casually at home.” The coach said to him coldly like a granite. Jake got it, put his money away, bowed to the coach and said, “You can say that I am poor, but you can’t doubt my serious attitude towards basketball. Thanks for your advice.” After walking out of the basketball stadium, Jake couldn’t help turning back and said to himself that maybe he could collect enough money in the next summer holiday. Suddenly, there was a harsh whistling resounding behind Jake. It was the coach that threw a deep blue Addy travelling bag to him, so he received it in a hurry and found a blue shirt inside it. “This was my son’s old equipment. If you don’t mind it, you can take it home and wash it, then wear it to have classes next week.” The coach said. Upon hearing that, Jake felt very excited and made up his mind to learn playing basketball well. When he returned home, he told everything to his single father happily, but his father got angry instantly. “How selfish you are! Don’t you know it was hard for me to earn money and support our family?” His father shouted. “Dear father, I understood you well, but it is my dream to play basketball ball. I promise to you that I will make full of my spare time to do part-time job and make money.” Finally, his father was moved by him and supported him.
