Often a greasy oven is a great attraction to ants and should be kept as clean as possible on a daily basis. • Always put your leftovers in a closed and well-sealed storage container, putting these in your refrigerator. • Do not leave containers of sugar, butter, honey, maple syrup or other items like these sitting around on your kitchen counter tops or tables because they will also attract ants, even if they are well-sealed there is always some type of spillage on the neck or body of the container. Try to keep these wiped down as well as stored in the refrigerator if possible. • It is also a good idea never to leave any pet food lying around on the floor for a prolonged period of time. Although you want your kitty or dog to have access to food when they are hungry, it is a better idea to remove the feed bowl once they are finished eating so no ants are attracted to dine with your pet. • Do not leave piles of paper lying about because these make great nesting areas for ants.
