As an actor, I'm sure you probably heard lots of lectures about how important it is to properly handle casting calls and open auditions. If you just started off your journey to the cinematographic stars, let me repeat the well-known theory once again - after all, repetition is the essence of learning! As an actor, you will most likely have to undergo dozens, if not even hundreds or thousands of auditions throughout your life. Why? Because in order to be casted as a specific character, you firstly have to compete with other fellow actors who have the exact same goals and wishes as you do. In order to exceed them, you have to be committed, hard working and talented. It's very important to take auditions seriously - one of them may represent, at some point, your gateway to fame! The first step you should take is searching, literally, for auditions. Arm yourself with patience and take a morning off. Go to your favorite coffee shop with your laptop by your side, order a great, big cup of coffee and start the pursuit of open casting calls - Browse the internet! And if you're old fashioned, you could consider checking your local newspaper. The idea is that nothing is going to happen if you simply sit around and wait. Make your own luck and give your absolute best. Once you found an open casting call in your local area, check the requirements - see it you fit the criteria. If so, check if you have to send an application prior to the audition. If so, don't take any other steps in this direction until you receive feedback from you letter of application. Your resume and your set of headshots should always be by your side, especially if you don't have an agent. The resume should include all relevant information about yourself - list all you acting experience and take advantage about your theatrical studied (if you have) - it may come to your advantage! Preparation is essential. Learn your lines by heart and read the script carefully. In order to enhance your performance, you have to be able to understand how your character relates to others and how he will develop throughout the representation. Remain realistic - if you fail an audition, it isn't the end of the world. You can always try again tomorrow, and after all, you have something to learn out of each and every experience. Always give your best and try be as inspiring as you are inspired. Best of luck - maybe you're the next international movie star!
