How to Remove a Bat From Your Home

Advice,Health,Home Improvement
If you encounter a bat in your home, you may be tempted to run and hide. But if you are equipped with the proper information, you can easily get a handle on the problem and you will be living in a bat-free house before you know it. If you are wondering why bats are taking shelter in your home it is because they thrive in areas with lots of food, lack of predators, and safe conditions. They love to roost in dark and quiet closed-in spaces so that is why your attic, shed or barn is such an ideal habitat for them. But that certainly does not make it so ideal for you! For some helpful NJ Bat Removal tips, keep reading.

Bats in the attic: If you have encountered bats in your attic, do not try to remove them without protective gear. Make sure that you are wearing a face mask and gloves since they are likely to bite or scratch you and the smell from their urine or guano can be too much to bear. Pay attention to the outside of your house at dusk, that is when bats are more likely to come in and go out of your attic. The kindest way to perform NJ Bat Removal is to close up all the holes and openings in the attic, to reduce the points of entrance for these creatures. You can also try bat cones or netting. Bats also love to eat bugs. So do an insect check in your attic. If you are over-run with bugs, that could explain the prevalance of bats. After they are gone, clean up the bat waste as quickly as possible since bat guano can cause mold problems that have harmful health effects.

Bats on the roof: If you are at home late at night and you start hearing weird noises such as flapping wings, screeches and squeals, that could be the sign that your roof is infested with bats. First thing you should do is watch and wait. When you spot them, pay attention to which end of the roof they are coming from, and seal off those areas. Once they leave, clean off the area and call a professional for NJ Bat Removal to make sure that your roof was not damaged in the process.

Bats in your walls: Bats will use the easiest entry point to get in-between your walls. So if you hear noises in between your walls or notice droppings nearby, you need to check for loose siding, missing bricks, loose or missing roof shingles, and broken roof vents. After you close off all those entry points, continue to keep watch. Bats are persistent and will find other means of getting in. Once you figure out the source, attempt to block them off, but if that does not work you may have to break the wall down complete the bat removal in NJ.

Bats are intimidating mammals. They look scary, they make frightening noises, and can be a hassle to deal with when you have many of them on your hands at once. But no matter what, with the right research and tools, you should be able to get rid of the problem and live bat-free in no time at all. If you feel that this is too much to handle, you can always call a professional for bat removal in NJ.
