A Car Sun Shade can be two types of products: rear side window sun shades and larger front window reflectors. This is article is about the first types which is designed to protect your children from glare. This type of shade can be used while you are driving and is transparent. It should prevent the sun going in your children's eyes and stop the car from getting too warm. Rear sun shade options to consider, there are basically two types: The clingy models that 'stick' to your window or the suction models that have specific cups to stay attached. I shall take a look at each in turn and examine the various advantages and disadvantages to both products. The clingy models have a thin shade that sticks to the surface of your window. They must be thin to stay attached hence they some times fall off. Advantages: • They are often cheaper than the equivalent suction version. • As they are so thin they can be easily stowed in you car. • They are flexible and difficult to damage in storage. Disadvantages: • They are very prone to air bubbling. This may not annoy you but it does not look so great. This tendency does not prevent the shade from working. • They are often thinner than the suction versions they do not therefore provide as much protect from car from over heating. • They are more prone to falling off than the other version and they can be easily pulled off by the child that they should be protecting! The suction models work by using specially designed suction cups to stick to the window. Advantages • The suction cups offer a firmer adhesion to the window than just by clinging alone. • They are therefore, less likely to be pulled off by your child and hence are probably more effective. • They are normally thicker than the cling versions and hence stop the car from getting as hot. • They can be more adaptable and can often be shaped to fit non standard window sizes. Disadvantages • There is more to them and hence more expensive as a rule. • The cups are a little bulkier than the cling version so they take up more space. Common features: You can not open your side window with either model, in fact if you try it you will often get the window stuck. For this reason I suggest, if you have electric windows, you should disable them to prevent your children or passenger from jamming up your window. read more about car sun shade here
