That year when she was the most disenfranchised, she met him. At that time, her mother got sick in the hospital and it cost much money, but she had nothing except a beautiful face. Because she was good at dancing, so she took an errand of being a dancing partner in a KTV. Every night he had to glide from one KTV to the next so as to make more money. She thought that if she had saved enough money for her mother’s operation, she wouldn’t have stayed in such places. In fact, being a dancing partner is nothing but a foil, for the lights on the stage and audiences’ eyesight were prepared for the singles forever. She got used to being silent like a slate without any attention, but she still danced attentively. During that time, there were few audiences every night, but a man came and stared at her absorbedly. Gradually, many people said that the man must fall in love with her, for sometimes he would buy a lily or tulip and sent the flower to her after her dance. As to this, she didn’t care about him and sometimes threw the flower directly into the dustbin, for she thought a man who was fond of going to such an amusement place wasn’t serious. To her surprise, every night after dancing she would come across him in the bus. “You dance very well!” he smiled lightly. She nodded without looking at him, instead, she was absorbed in the beauty of the night. One time, she was so tired that she slept inside the electric car in the midnight. At each end of the line, he woke her up, accompanied her to get off the buss and asked tentatively, “Could I send you home? It was so late that I would be worried if you go home alone.” She shook head firmly and ran away quickly. Later on, some people told him that the route of the man’s home was opposite to hers, but he was willing to send her home silently. Gradually, she started to accept him and had dates with him. One day, he grabbed her hand and asked her, “Could you lead me to call on your mother? Let’s get married when she gets well, shall we?” Her face turned red and agreed with him happily.
