P Clips or Loop Clamps as they're otherwise known, are ideal for identifying and labeling wires and cables in equipment. They can be embossed with serial numbers and can be made of non-slip material. They are generally used to reduce vibration on pipes or bundles of cables. They also protect insulation tubes and the 'p' shaped clip is useful in clamping down the wires and cables and retaining them in their place. Adjustable P clips can be used to keep the wires or cables in place by keeping them fastened onto a chasis with the help of a screw. The ends of the P clip should be rounded off to prevent abrasion and friction to the bundle of cables and wires. P clips are generally made of tough plastic or polyamide, which offers good temperature resistance and this also makes them strong enough to firmly hold large bundles of cables in place. P clips are used in many industries, like aerospace, where their lightweight quality makes them ideal for holding bundles of wires in place. This material also helps them to withstand huge temperature ranges between - 40 and 105 C for long durations up to four or five hundred hours. Light-duty P clips are used to prevent loose wires dangling and these clamps are made of transparent or translucent nylon which can be embossed inside with the size marking for quick identification. They're also corrosion resistant, don't conduct electricity and can withstand the action of many fuels, lubricants and chemicals. For providing more secure and better grip for large bundles, the heavier duty Nylon P clips are more suitable, as they can hold bundles which are one to two inches in diameter. Another material that's used for heavy-duty P clips is propionate which is available in clear or amber finish. It provides durability, strength, hardness, heavy-duty clamping and since they're transparent or translucent, identification process becomes easy. Self-aligning P clips are simple and quick to use, especially on assembly lines. They have mounting holes for screws and provide an excellent fit when they're clamped round the bundles of cables. P clips with an eyelet insert in metals like aluminum are excellent for providing perfect grip with endurance. These clips are used in many industries like appliance industries, HVAC, aerospace, marine and electronics industries. Other materials like galvanized steel or iron may be lined with rubber to provide cushioning and locking. This also helps to reduce vibration damage to the cables and wires. These clips are used extensively in the auto industry, ships, gasoline engines, tractors, trucks etc. Depending on your requirements, you can procure the appropriate P clips from your local hardware store or order them on-line directly from manufacturers after giving them your specifications.
