For any sizeable organisation the reception is one of the most important areas of the building. It is the first point of call for any employees and visitors and it can set a lasting impression to those who have never entered the building before. There is often little that can be changed in the structure and decor of a reception area but you will be surprised by what can be achieved with some carefully placed display boards and shelves. The reception desk is often the main focal point of a reception area and this is often a good place to site some display shelves for promotional materials. In addition, seating or waiting areas can also be an effective location for these types of materials as people will have a few minutes to read some of your literature while they wait for a meeting or appointment. Using display boards can be a really great way to create an eye-catching design and summarise your organisations aims and achievements. You could even invest in an interactive display or live display for something really engaging! Think about the placement of these boards. Do you want to draw people to a certain part of the reception? Can you lead them to an area where they can find more information? Sometimes display boards are a really effective way of breaking up a large open space into smaller and friendlier spaces, perhaps a meeting area, waiting area and information area. Use of imagery is really important when creating a display. If you do not already have a stock of images that could be used then it is well worthwhile hiring the services of a professional photographer to capture some thought-provoking pictures. Think about what sort of image you want to portray to your clients and visitors. Are you an organisation that prides itself on professionalism and quality or is the environment at the heart of your operations? As the old saying goes a picture can say a thousand words. Size and positioning is important too. If you are going for a dominating display then make sure your image files are large enough so that they remain clear and effective when blown up to a large size. Text is important too but try to keep this to a minimum so as not to detract from the images. You can include further details and information in your leaflets and corporate literature on display in your reception. Using a combination of leaflet holders, display shelves and boards you can turn a vast plain reception area into a welcoming hub of information and points of interest.
