Timothy Bradley got the belt but Manny Pacquiao Manny Pacquiao remains the "Champion": A commentary By Dhreff Anchor for Allvoices The "split decision" that declared Timothy Bradleywinner has caused whirlwind of controversies of various hues. Thesecontroversies emanated from people of different walks of lifecondensed in media and legal languages. Media tend to make a trial through publicity about the manners onhow Bradley won and Pacquiao"s defeat. Bradley was given atitle of a new "Champion" while many names are beingascribed to Pacman as the "defeated champion." Nomatter how media will be put into the controversies, they willremain unsolved, ramify and become complicated. Media have to stopmaking noise about the decision by respecting it.
In legal aspect, it was reported that Promoter Bob Arum Bob Arum wants the three judges to be investigated. Mr. Arum has all theprerogatives to pursue along that line. However, this requires muchtime to wait for the results. This means that the results of thefight as announced on June 09 would be suspended while waiting forthe investigation and its findings.
There seems a pattern developing which is "repudiating thedecision of the judges." In this case, what"s the useof enlisting the services of a panel of judges if their verdict isnot respected? This alone suggests that boxing as sports hasdivorced itself from the principle and true meaning of"sportsmanship." In order not to tarnish the credibility and integrity of bothcamps, solve all those controversies by invoking the principle andtrue meaning of "Sportsmanship." This means, alwaysrespect and abide by the decision of those persons given the powersto rule and decide over a boxing event. In view of the recent Pacquiao – Bradley Match, both fightersmade their decisions for the event. Pacquiao knew by himself hasbeaten Bradley. Likewise, Bradley was shock to know he won overPacquiao.
As one Vynz commented, "Bradley knows this! He eventold Arum before the decision was made that he tried his best buthe couldn't beat Pacman!!" Nevertheless, both fighters weremore than humble to accept the split decision. Yes, it is very interesting that an American fighter like Bradleywrestled the "Champion"s Belt" out of thedivision he fought for to earn a new title of a"Champion" and may time allow him to enjoy it for aconsiderable period like the former Champion Pacquiao has enjoyed. Allow this writer to borrow what Richwebnews says, "Pacquiaovs Bradley Prediction: Pacquiao loss still leaves him as World'sGreatest." Indeed, this prediction was fulfilled lastSaturday. Furthermore Richwebnews says, "Pacquiao contributed mightilyto the sport of boxing, but his real legacy to the world is hissimple grace, humility and style with which he"s alwayscarried himself that people will remember." In closing allow this writer to say, "Pacquiao was defeatedon the ring after Saturday"s fight and gave everyone theundefeated manners, humility, smile, gladness and goodwill of a"World Champion" that never fades.
