This means, in instances where the issue company attains greater profits, the amount of dividends received gets proportionately increased. This makes these stocks having a touch of debts rather than equity. A continuous and steady flow of income makes these stocks sell like hot cakes. Moreover, when it comes to preference to pay dividends, it is these stocks that have an upper hand compared to common stocks. It won’t be out of context to say, these stocks truly reflect an amalgamation of equity and common stocks. In instances of liquidation, they get preference over assets payment.
