Welding is a very risky process of joining the metals together with electrically produced heat in the form of spark and fire. The people associated with it have to adopt precautionary measures to ensure their safety while working. There are many equipments and special types of dresses which protect the workers. One such thing is the welding hood. All the welders, whether beginners or experts, are asked to wear these helmets as there are chances of accidents taking place. There are many other accessories which are used while welding like the goggles, hoods and helmets. But somehow the hoods are the most important ones. The hood protects the welders from sparks, UV rays and also from the light that comes out from the torch. The hoods even protect the cornea of the eyes from getting affected by the light, as a damaged cornea can result in short term blindness or a permanent one. A welding hood is also useful when a sudden change from darkness to brightness takes place. This sudden transformation can affect the eyes adversely. The hood should be of good quality and should be able to protect the welder from sparks and bright light. The hoods should be of good quality and the welders should be able to use it easily. There are many types of hoods available in the market. One such type is the solar welding one which gives the chance to the users to work, without moving the helmet up and down. There is another special type called the auto darkening welding helmet which come in two types. One is the battery operated and the other is solar powered. The welders who have to work inside use the solar powered ones and the people who work in underground structures use the battery operated ones. These helmets are preferred to the conventional ones as they have special sensors for secondary arc lights and also contribute to the professional outlook of the welding companies.
