Make US your home by getting US Green Cards. The Green Card gives the status of a permanent resident of the USA. So it is very important for non-natives residing in the States to get a USA green card. It gives the person the opportunity to enjoy all the benefits enjoyed by the citizens of the country. The person is free to operate in any part of the country without any legal problem. Immigration Nationality Act of the US has laid down the criteria as to the eligibility of filing an application for a green card. A person falling under any of the following categories has the right to apply for a Green Card. - Adoption: a person adopted by a citizen of the USA.
- Investment: a person owing a firm or investing in some commercial activity in the country.
- Relative: a person who has a Green Card holder relative. The relative sponsors the applicant.
- Marriage: a person married to a citizen of US. It can be either of the spouses.
- Special immigration: a highly skilled person in the field of medicine, science, language, arts or sports. Immigration under this category is known to be more difficult than other categories.
- Employment: a person employed in the US but before he or she gets the chance to work in the US, he or she needs an Employment Visa. Under this arrangement the company employing the person becomes the sponsor.
A US Green Card holder is registered in the US in accordance to the immigration laws, and becomes a lawful resident. He or she can live and work permanently and can even travel abroad for a specific time period. The person can also file a petition for acquiring a Green Card for his or her spouse or children below the age of twenty-one years. He or she also has the right to apply for citizenship of the US. It should be noted that a Green Card holder becomes a permanent resident of the country but he or she does not enjoy the entitlement of a citizen.
