The specific years that month of November happen to have five Thursdays, the date changes. People enjoy this celebration, at any age, giving the fact that the holiday gives the opportunity for the families to reunite. The markets also fill with Thanksgiving products as food, gifts, Thanksgiving cards and decorations. The history of the Thanksgiving Day in United States is traced back to the first part of the seventeenth century. More exactly, is well known to have the beginnings in the year 1621, when the Plymouth Colonists and the indigenous Indians gathered and shared the first festival of autumn harvest. Another belief is that the origins of the celebration are found in the year 1619, when a group of British settlers knelt down before the God to thank for a safe and healthy arrival after a long journey from England across the Atlantic Ocean. One of the specific events which bring joy to the Thanksgiving Day celebration is Macy's Christmas Parade. In the year 1924, this parade was held for the first time, in New York City. It was an opening festival for the Shopping season that occurs around Christmas. Nowadays, about three million people join this parade and about 44 million watch it on TV from home. On November, Americans are celebrating the Thanksgiving Day as usual with all the glitter and the children especially can’t wait for the parade. But most of them prefer to celebrate at home, in a relaxing and warm atmosphere, having all their relatives around and a comfortable couch near. We wait to celebrate Thanksgiving Day for various reasons, but one of the most expected things is the delicious dinner that all the families prepare. The meal courses always look delicious and they are a real pleasure for the entire family. We have cranberry and blueberry pie, corn and other specialities. However, the main course is roasted and stuffed turkey, which is largely consumed in United States on Thanksgiving Day. The turkey also became a reference symbol of Thanksgiving, being more like a commercial image for many stores in this period. However, we can only enjoy Thanksgiving Day if we let the celebration spirit into our hearts and cheer every single moment of it, from cooking and preparing the house, to the traditional games and the fancy parade.
