Even if you're not planning on attending a festival, there's still plenty to look forward to when visiting Liverpool in the summer - especially with the city's numerous public parks and gardens placing it among the greenest and most pleasant cities in the UK. Taking an open-top bus or walking tour can be a great way to orient yourself in the city when you first arrive, and to learn a little more about its landmarks and history - from the childhood homes of John Lennon and Sir Paul McCartney to dockside attractions celebrating Liverpool's maritime heritage.
