If you can't make yourself brush your teeth, make your bed, pick up your clothes every day, eat regular meals, and get up the first time the alarm goes off - lemme guess. You have trouble disciplining yourself to write. Study discipline is a requirement for a producing writer. What you do in the rest of your life will directly affect your writing habits. It makes sense, doesn't it? The answer is, discipline in writing begins in your daily living. If you want to be a good writer, choose the best writing course for you and follow these simple discipline guidelines for daily life. As you learn discipline in your daily life, you will also learn it as an author. If you're serious about gaining writing discipline in your life, do the following exercise. The idea is to pick the hardest thing on the list for you. When you can do that on a daily basis, add one more thing from the list. When you can do both things for a week, you will see a marked difference in the organization of your life, and you will be ready to take a writing course. SAMPLE EXERCISES (feel free to make up your own) - Here's a hard one: don't pick up your fork to eat the next bite until you are swallowing the last bit of food in your mouth. - Another hard one: drink eight glasses of water a day. - Take a drink after every three bites of food. - Get up the first time the alarm goes off. - Go to bed at the same time every night. - Take a long walk every day. - Exercise for 15 minutes a day. - Brush your teeth twice a day, every day. - Sweep a room every day. - Turn off every light you are not using - Shut the TV off for a week. - Don't play games for a week - Don't listen to music or radio for a week. - Read one chapter of your Bible every day for a week. - Use the bathroom every hour (when you're awake) for three days. If that doesn't teach you discipline, you're beyond hope. All of these things are good habits. In one way or another, they will care for the body or soul, while at the same time, inviting discipline into your life. If you can find the discipline to discipline yourself so you will have discipline, (*I'm dizzy), make yourself do this exercise. You will have won at least half the battle, and you will know you are ready to take a writing course and do well in it. custom thesis
