Continuing our discussion, there are some important elements that need to be checked in order to ensure that keywords that you choose are going to be very effective for your online business. If you take a look at one of your competitor's home page these are the things you should be on the lookout for: C) Is the main keyword displayed using underline, italics or bold anywhere in the body of the web page? They have not done so in this case, which is favorable to us. Looking at this page, I can see that this website could be irrelevant for anyone looking for a parcel delivery service, as this page gives details of a parcel delivery scam. D) Is this website using an image and using the keyword to label that image within the ALT tags? No, they are not. They are not using any images at all. We might be able to optimize our own website by adding an image to the homepage, provided the image is actually named after one of the main keywords. You can insert an image and label it parcel delivery service, for instance. E) We need to check whether this website has placed the keyword once at the very beginning of the content and again at the very end of the content. This website has not used the keywords either at the beginning or at the end of the content. If we place our keywords in the relevant places, we can easily dethrone this website from its number one spot. So what have we learnt from this exercise? We have learnt that we can easily dethrone the current number one ranked website from their position using on-page optimization tactics that Google pays particular attention to. We are confident that we can do this because the competitor's website is not using the keyword 'parcel delivery service' in a header tag. The competitor's website has not inserted any of the keywords into an ALT image tag, nor is it using any images on its web page. This website has a page rank of 5, which can be easily beaten. Achieving a similar page rank is quite easy, and I will show you how to do this later. This site is ranked using its sub-page. By optimizing a homepage for this keyword, we can overtake their number one position. Now, you know the procedure you should go through to check for keywords. Repeat the process for the remaining two keywords that you have chosen. By the way, when you are checking out your competition, it is best to check the top five websites in any search engine results.
