When you set out to purchase a pair of wheels, consider the long term value and the ease with which maintaining it would be. Helo wheels are a perfect example of wheels that can easily be maintained, but this is decision that must be made at the early stages of purchasing the product. Among the things that wheel maintenance involve is, wheel balancing. Wheel balancing can be done in a number of ways one of them being, by the use of wheel studs. This is normally done to ensure vibration-free driving, control and even proper traction. This is a procedure that should be done regularly due to the wear on tires that result from daily driving. To balance tires using studs, here are some of the steps you need to follow. • Using a lug nut wrench loosen the nuts holding the wheels, and then place a wooden block on the opposite side of the tire that requires balancing. The car has to be raised from the ground during this procedure. • Now remove the lug nuts and the tire using a hammer to knock off the existing weights. At this stage you need to get a cylindrical cone which fits the inside of your wheels hole. Place the cone onto the wheel balancing machine and then slide the tire over the cone on the wheel balancing machine. • Keep the cone in place with the cone balancing machine holder and a corresponding knob holder. You will then need to screw the holding compartment clockwise until the tire is properly fitted onto the machine, then power the on the balancing machine. • Feed the appropriate measurement settings for your tire. Start by measuring the distance from the machine to the tire, the measuring device is normally attached on the side of the machine. Enter the diameter by use of tire rim measuring, and lastly enter the tire rims diameter. By activating the balancer the two weights will be displayed. You can then select the wheel stud that matches to those weight measurements. Lastly, set the tire position on the right and the left side to zero the wheel balancer. Position the right weight studs along the outer edge of the rim at the 12 o’clock position on each side.
