Keep in mind that horizontal stripes will make the wall appear wider and vertical stripes will make the wall appear higher. Paint is not the only mean that you can use to create an accent wall. Wallpaper can also be used. Even more by using wallpaper one will widen his choice pool of combinations that can used to create a unique ambience into the room. Accent walls are very helpful in open space areas. By having an accent wall you will be able to separate with a room divider the open space into various areas. For example if your open space includes your living room and bedroom you can paint one wall in red and place the master bed in front it.
