“Eating spicy food affects sleep” is not an alarmist. Australian research team monitored a group of healthy young men and found that after they eat a bog meal of spicy dinner, their sleep patterns is changed significantly. Brain wave monitoring showed that their fast-wave sleep and slow wave sleep duration has shortened, which means they have less sleeping time, as well as a long time of tossing and turning.

In addition, the researchers also found that after people intake of spicy food, in the first cycle of sleep, their body temperature will rise, which will lead to reduced quality of sleep. Moreover, the researchers said that there are a variety of reasons to explain the effect of the spicy dinner on sleep, and the most obvious one is the spicy food stimulation to the stomach. In the dinner, eating spicy or greasy food will affect sleep, and the important reason is that because pepper, garlic, onions and so on can cause a burning sensation and indigestion in the stomach, thereby affecting sleep; but eating more greasy foods will also increase the workload of the intestines, stomach, liver, gall bladder and pancreas, which will stimulate the nerve center, to keep it in working condition, leading to insomnia. Moreover, the foods like beans, cabbage, onions, corn and bananas and so on can also interfere with normal sleep.

Furthermore, bad mood will also affect sleep. Fall sleep and sleep well is a desire of the modern white-collar. Sleep is not only basic physiological needs, but psychological needs. The white-collar workers face the pressure of competition and challenges every day, so they are prone to appear sleep problems. Until the next day, they often feel body fatigue, headaches, memory decline, and looking haggard, following is that these will affect the efficiency and quality of life. In fact, that most of them cannot sleep is a natural state, rather than a morbid condition. Sleep is a physical experience and feelings, but if your body feels comfortable, your mood will naturally be calm; so when you go to sleep, you are relaxed and comfortable, but depression will affect your sleep.

In addition, do not think that drinking can affect sleep. Bedtime drinking had been thought to promote sleep by a lot of people. Although it can make people fall asleep quickly, it only makes people in the light sleep, and it is difficult for them to enter deep sleep. So, after drinking alcohol, even if you sleep a long time, you will still feel very tired after waking up.
