The facts about American history actually start with the 1776 Declaration of Independence. Prior to that date, the first known evidence acknowledges that the territory had been occupied by Native Americans since the prehistoric era. The English were the largest settlements on the East coast during the early 1600s and within 100 years, a total of 13 colonies consisting of 2,5 million people had developed the political and legal systems for the time. With George Washington as the first president of the country, the Constitution of 1789 was the basis for the United States federal government, in the struggle to be a self-governed nation. Over the past 200 years, there has been a lot of changes but the foundation on which the Constitution was established is pretty much the same. Throughout the history of America, one trait sets this land apart from the world. That trait continues today; its the ability to expand within a diverse community and survive. And because of this, it made the nation stronger and established the governments purpose; to protect the rights of its individuals. By the year 1912, there were 48 contiguous states that formed the United States of America, but by the year 1959, there were two new territories namely Hawaii and Alaska that completed 50 states. North and south America was divided in the year 1861 during the civil war. The civil war is about slavery of the north while economics in the cotton the trade was for the south. As the south is overpowered, slavery ends and rights are extended to African Americans. The US declares war on Germany and funds the Allied victory in the year 1917. Until 1929 with the Wall Street Crash sending the nation into the Great Depression, when the American was on its highest at that time. New reform, recovery and relief were topics with Franklin D Roosevelt in office. On the morning of December 7, 1941, the US western seaport of Hawaii is attacked when Japan declared war on the US. World War II comes to end when Germany is defeated and the first atomic bomb destroys a portion of Japan. 1960 Civil rights and equality are the topics of society; Vietnam turns out badly for the US leaving a bitter reminder for the returning veterans and stark budget consequences for the government. The two superpower countries were the US and Russia, while space travel and intervention was in demand in Europe and eastern Asia. With the dissolution of the Soviet Union did the Cold War ends in the year 1991. America is reaping the fruits of the history today since the war is over and equity to everybody regardless of gender, race and religion is practiced. The mystery of history gives way to opposition as the US moves into a new age of Information Technology. The all American history appears to be wrapped with conflict and economic friction, recurring early in 2000, when the US is attacked in September.
