Apple's latest product, the iPhone 5, has just been released in the UK and is already proving to be popular. The new smartphone has been supersized by Apple to fit into the growing need for bigger, better smartphones, but this doesn't mean that everyone will forget about its predecessors. Apple saw phenomenal success with the iPhone 4, with its complete visual overhaul and increased size, and the iPhone 4S was also popular. S So, just because there's a new iPhone on the block doesn't mean you can't still go for Apple's older products and still get great use out of them. If you're feeling a bit confused about precisely what the differences are between all of these Apple products though, you certainly won’t be alone. For the casual observer it can be a bit tricky to know exactly how the iPhone has changed through its releases, but there have been some considerable changes. Possibly the biggest difference for the iPhone 5 is its size when compared the iPhone 4 and the iPhone 4S. Both of its predecessors were 4.5 inches in height, 2.31 inches in width and 0.37 in depth, with the iPhone 4 weighing 137 grams and the iPhone 4s weighing 140 grams. The iPhone 5, however, weighs just 112 grams and is a mere half an inch thick. Its height is a larger 4.87 inches while it sits at the same 2.31 inches as its brothers. This taller screen size enables it to compete with other smartphones that have been supersized, but some feel that it's still a bit too small. The iPhone 5 now has a 4 inch Retina display with an 1136x640 resolution, which is a whole half an inch larger than the iPhones 4 and 4S. Though this might not seem like a lot, it definitely is and it's one of the best things to have happened to the iPhone in recent years. The camera on the iPhone 5 is the same as it was on iPhone 4S, although the iPhone 4 only boasted a 5 megapixel camera which is considerable lacking in this day and age. The battery life of the iPhone 5 is also much better, being able to offer up to eight hours of talk time when on 3G, and up to 8 hours of browsing time on 3G and 10 hours on Wi-Fi. The standby time of the iPhone 5 is also better, with 225 hours available on standby - all of this is at least one hour more than the iPhones 4S and 4, which is much better.
