The process that involves migration of people from different parts of the world to Canada is Immigration to Canada. Most of the migrated people settle down in Canada for their lifetime. There had been majority change to the immigration law after 1947. The Canadian immigration department is still evolving. As a result there are lots of changes in the rules of immigration law which takes place often. Recent latest change was made in 2008 to lower the constant flow of migrating people. The changes made had major effect on reducing the categories of professional skilled immigration. It also made few amendments for caps for immigrants in various categories. When it comes to immigrants it is categorized into four groups. They are family type, economic migrants, other, and refugees. In the family type people who have close relatives who are living in Canada and are citizens of Canada are taken in account. In the economic migrant’s category, people who are skilled workers and who are into business are included. In the other type people who are accepted as immigrants on the grounds of compassionate and humanitarian are accepted. And refugee is a type in which types of people are escaping torture, prosecution, unusual punishment or cruelty. The immigration policy of Canada is so broad that it has had a greater effect in its ethnic diversity. They have 34 ethnic groups which include Germen, Italian, South Asian, Chinese, Filipino, Black decent, Russian, Polish, Dutch, Portuguese, Swedish and also Norwegian. The main event that had a major effect on the Canadian immigration law which took place in the history was four main waves. This is when the majority of the migration and settling down of people took place in Canada. They are namely the first wave, second wave, third wave, and the fourth wave. This took place almost two centuries ago. The fifth wave is currently going on in the Immigration to Canada process. During the first wave majority of the immigration of non original people took place. And the population mostly consisted of progressive French settlement of Quebec and Acadia which also consists smaller groups of European and American entrepreneurs. There were presences of British personnel in this migration. After the war of 1812 in Ireland and British country people were forced to flee from their country. That is when the second wave took place in the history of Canadian migration. The origin of citizenship of Canada was created for the British personnel who had been migrated and settles in . Canada during this period. Any other British personnel needed permission to land in Canada. A separate act called as Canadian national act was passed in 1912. It is a very important fact that Canada was the first nation in the British common wealth which established its own nationality law in 1946. This was done with the enactment of Canadian citizenship act which was passed in the year 1946. These acts formally started taking effect in the year 1947. It is very important to know that several families had been denied entry in Canada as their families have been diagnosed with autism.
