Halloween is a day originated from Ireland and celebrated on the night of 31st October with a holiday every year. Halloween also known as Hallowe’en, Samhain, All Hallows Eve, Summer’s End, Lamswool, Witches Night and Snap-Apple is also celebrated in a few other countries like USA, Canada, UK, Australia, New Zealand, Sweden along with Ireland itself. It was a tradition in Ireland to carve the gourds and turnip fruits with scary faces and place embers into to light them to ward off spirits who roam around on streets and countryside especially during All Hallows Eve. Later on, it was discovered that pumpkins were easier to carve due to their bigger size and availability in the universe rather than those turnips. People celebrate the day with fun activities which includes trick – or – treating, ghost tours, costume parties, bonfires, apple bobbing, playing pranks, carving pumpkins, reading and watching haunted stories and movies. Children engage themselves in activities such as trick or treating in which they wear costumes of Dracula, ghost, witch, monster, skeleton or devils and visit each house asking for treats of candies or either money failing which the housemates were punished with scary stories by the children. On the Halloween day a lot of kids enjoy coloring which they use as decorations all over the house or give it as Halloween cards to the relatives.
