A cosmetologist is a beauty specialist who specializes in providing beauty treatments. A student must have graduated from a state-licensed cosmetology school and pass a cosmetology board exam in his or her state. If the students choose to pursue a cosmetology program, they must possess communication skills, and will learn public and personal health and hygiene, laboratory work, and handling of chemicals.
