By Md. Sadat Hussain Rafsanjani Super-bikes are the wildest dream vehicles for a speed enthusiast rider. Now a days everyone seems interested in bikes, some one for performance or someone for their killing looks. Where multi time MotoGP world champion Valentino Rossi popularized the term bike riding, On the other hand extreme daredevils like Evel Knievel and Eddie Kidd redefined the styles of bike stunts. Evolution A super-bike is an optimized motorcycle especially for high speed, straight to top acceleration, special braking system and corner cutting on the paved roads. From the invention, motorcycle has been used on every possible aspect of daily life but until 1969 when Honda CB750 was especially designed for general users which blends both speed and improved power grab the attention of professional racers to taste the new horse. The advancements were continued to be followed by improving the suspension and brakes with wilder look to the chassis. Since 1980s, divergence arose at a greater rate following the cult of new age bike racers and prodigies. Thus, designs like naked bikes, street-fighter and more recent motocross bikes began to produce. Design All sport bikes shares some common design features besides maneuverability, speed, acceleration and brakes. Certain user ergonomics and physics maximizes superior performance in the dynamic state. We always see the biker bends on the fuel tank while riding because the aerodynamic relies on the body weight of the rider. In fact, correct front to rear weight distribution plays important to control the bike on the fly. Nonetheless, these bikes are made of high tech but little massed like commonly used carbon fiber materials therefore a little increase in rider weight makes it difficult to control perfectly. However, adding fairings improves aerodynamic drags and rider wind protection. Although general level riders found these fairings called body chassis more eye chewing but the fact is totally different. Another good aspect is, super-bikes front and rear wheel tire are needed to be more wider to cut corners at hight speed efficiently and greater lean angles. The structure of body called wheelbase also need to be shorter for comfortable ride. Bike Geometry However, bike geometry like steering axis angel or caster angel, fork offset also called perpendicular distance between steering axis to the center of the front wheel can be customized highly but must be optimized. Each property of bike geometry has different mathematical equation. By satisfying the equation, one can change the geometry of his own choice. Variations Recent motorcycle companies have produced distinct varieties of motor-bikes. It is called motorcycle class. Currently three class exists a noted Lightweight, Middleweight and Super-bikes. The lightweight bikes are designed for entry level bikers, who have no prior experience in speed vehicle. These bikes are called miniature super-bike in spite of having good reputation for better performance for rookies. Typical displacement rate is 500cc. The middleweight bikes have displacement rate of 600 to 750cc and don't have active presence in motor sport though called super-sport. In addition, there is another class called Open class, sometimes referred as hyper-bikes for superior performance and speed in racing. Moreover, for increase in performance, these bikes can be re-configured. Some notable super-bikes are Suzuki Hayabusa, GSX R, Kawasaki Ninja series,, Ducati Streetfighter, Yamaha YZF series etc. Base on the Grand Prix conditions, all the major companies have launched special edition of super-bikes like Suzuki RGV 250, Yamaha YZR-M1 etc. Apart from racing track competitions, special bikes are also produced to play off the road. These bikes are called dual sport motorcycles or “Dualie” as they can be used to play on sand to rock. The concept evolved from extreme sport, a type of sport permits daredevil stunts on the sand and numerous environments. The popular use of these kind of bikes can be found in movies and motocross. Moro-sport, a super-bike competition for extreme sport enthusiast use these bikes on compulsory basis. Custom Bikes And Builders Custom bikes are made by users or any non company owner of the vehicles for various purposes. The modification includes detail re-configuration of engines or any body modification like paint work, geometry alteration etc. For instance, street-fighter style bikes are made by removing the fairing and other body kits which adds both aggressive look and flavor. Another version is chopper, a bike either constructed from scratches or highly customized after purchase. Thats why the term “Chopped” was coined. Famous bike customizer Jesse G. Jame's West Coast Chopper was a well known chopping company. Other notable companies includes Orange County Choppers, Falcon Motorcycle, Indian Larry, Von Dutch Kostom Cycles. There exists some affiliated custom bike building competitions that authorizes and promotes the general enthusiasts to develop and postulates improved design of fine finished and more advanced vehicles. Since 2004, American Motorcycle Design magazine (AMD) arranges World Championship of Custom Bike Building every year. The winner is either judged by peer reviews generally or guest judges panel consists of press. The categories include Freestyle, Modified Harley-Davidson, Production Manufacturer and Metric World Championship. Other countries like Japan, Europe, Russia also hold same type of competitions. Biker Equipments A dedicated biker should be very healthy as while at high speed he may suffer motion sickness. High speed motor-bikers uses special clothing apparels for counter measures. Such as, the shoes used by them are not made of ordinary rubber and leather. Instead, the boots cost thousand of dollars for state of the art technology like engineered external protection, ankle safety and anti-slipper protection. The body suit, both jacket and pant, made of leathers. Gloves comes as a compulsory protection purpose. So a s the helmets. Other accessories like nitrous oxide (NOS) can be added for further performance. Modern bikes are equipped with digital speedometers and others. Championships MotoGP is the primal world championship in the business. Other events also exists where MotoGP is the most popular since 1949. Competitions are held on the basis of weight classes. Events are called seasons. Racing tracks can be circuit. However, controversy roses every time a rider is injured or killed. Recent trends inspire a lot of people dream of having sporting bikes although these days super-bikes are still beyond the reach of general users. India and China are producing low grade knock-offs of super-bikes which are being imported in under developed countries on regular basis. For more information please visit - article marketing.
