The use of steel sections is found in many applications in everyday life. Steel sections are usually made using the cold rolling process, and then the sections are pierced, punched or drilled and welded as per the requirement. The industrial applications for various types of steel sections are many and varied. They are used in the manufacture of vertical or horizontal collapsible doors. In fact there are many different components in collapsible doors that are made from steel sections or tubes such as laths, bottom rail, wind locks, angles etc. Other uses of steel sections can be found in partition screen, security grills, industrial racks and shelves, structures needed in conveyor systems and other engineering products. In all products that are made from steel sections, the size, shape and other specifications are as per the need of the application. For example, in security gates or collapsible gate laths or thin strips of steel are used whereas in steel racks, steel sections in the shape of angles or steel members are used. Most of the types of steel sections that are cold rolled are of standard sizes and specifications that are most commonly used in various applications. Many manufacturers, like Sections and Tubes however can also make customized steel sections or alter some specifications to make bespoke sections for their specific needs. Steel angles are the most common steel sections that are generally adapted for fabrication. Steel angles can be pierced, cut or drilled for use in many industrial applications. Steel T sections are also commonly used for fabrication. In the vertical roller shutter door, T sections are used as the bottom-rail. Other often used standard steel sections are cross beams, U-channels, laths, industrial hinges, flat leaf sections etc. For office and factory use, industrial partitions that are made from steel sections of different shapes and sizes are used as components. The type of sections that are mostly used in industrial and commercial partitions are Angles, t sections and U channels. Most good manufacturers of steel sections have a design and development section where they develop new products that have new applications. They also have all kinds of advanced tooling that is required to make the quality sections that are produced. The entire range of steel sections can also have variations such as painted, galvanized punched, pierced etc. which are needed for different applications. Sections can be made of materials other than steel if more load is expected to be carried than the standard specifications. Galvanized and stainless steel sections can also be manufactured depending on the need. Pre painted or powder coated sections can also be provided according to customer requirement. Stainless steel sections can be polished brightly or have a burnished look as the client demands. Adam Charles is an author of this article and writes about steel sections.
