When we talk of cover, few things that instantly spring to our mind are life, car, home, factory / production units, pets, etc. But what of luxury interests in vehicles like yacht and boats? Yes, your line of thought is taking you in a right direction. There are companies that are known for covering just about anything you live and that includes the two luxury vehicles mentioned above. Of course, marine insurance is not on the top of the list of things-to-do of individuals who have these lovely and expensive interests. However, it is suggested in their best interest to get that done in order to avoid unexpected kind of the damage there is no harm in considering the option.
Boats and yachts- How Big How Small
Boats and yacht are different in no so many specifics but in length. The slight difference here can make a huge impact on the type of cover you can get for your luxury ride vehicles.
A boat is of 26 feet or less and a yacht is 27 feet or more. This prime difference might or might not make the finer difference highlighted in the insurance policy. Cruiser, bow rider, or any special type might not be much different to you but check with the company if it is important for them.
About the Coverage of Both
While going to take cover for your favourite vehicle of marine transportation, there are some points that you would like to remember or consider regarding yacht or boat insurance UK:
1. They differ in Navigation limit as per the insurance policy provider. As a general rule, boats are smaller and hence they travel less on the sea shore as compared to the yachts. Still, the exposure for both is largely the issue to be decided with insurance provider. 2. Amounts that are to be deducted also vary for both marine vehicles. Deductibles for individual part like hull are different than for losses of other kind like total loss, loss of electronics and other similar damages. That could be determined by body.
3. Additionally, due to bigger size and exposure to the sea, a yacht is prone to body damage and hence varies superyacht insurance might give you coverage as you want. Many maritime laws can be costing if not for the marine cover for your watercraft. The same could not be said for the boat but pretty much can be decided on paper when the talks initiate on the issue.
There can be many other points added to it but one thing should not be forgotten regarding the marine insurance. Agreed Value policies are costlier but acts in favour of you during the time claim is made. The relatively cheaper option of Actual cash value might be a trap with no actual relief when you need that most!
