Enjoy best music concert events at Music Academy in Chennai which is started from 16th November 2012. Means 16th to 21st November 2012 is a busy time in Chennai! The annual legendary event spanning 6 days, the Hindu November Fest is all set to enthrall culture vultures in the city. A fusion of art, music and nostalgia, The Hindu November Fest is well-entrenched on the cultural calendar of the South. It aims at widening the language of classical music, hosts innumerable improvisations by artistes of international calibre, exposing the musical ear to not just sound and sight but also food for the soul. The mehfil is set, the acoustics have been fine-tuned and the music lovers are all set to descend in hordes, to welcome the legendary maestro of Hindustani classical Music! Pandit Jasraj will perform at the inauguration of the Hindu November Fest on 16th November. As his mellifluous rendition of khayal and bandish wafts across the city, music lovers are in for a heady, intoxicating week ahead! Deepa Alexander will speak on Buddhist philosophy and reinterpreting art and music from a contemporary perspective on 17th November. Be Being (from Korea) will incorporate dance, music, story and visual arts into their chanting to create a delightful medley. Be Being has chosen this Buddhist music project to deftly mix tradition and the transitional times we live in. 18th. November will see the confluence of rhythm and soul-stirring music revolve around percussion. TV Gopalakrishnan will strike a chord with the German percussion band, “DeciBells” and the Swiss Jazz Trio “Vein.” The accompanists will include Devie Neithiyar (vocal), S. Varadarajan (violin), G. Ramanathan (saxophone), Biju Paulose (keyboards) and Radhakrishnan (ghatam). 19th November will see a display of explosive music by Agam’s Carnatic rock. Their powerful vocals, thumping accompaniments and rendition of ragas with a twist are sure to blow the audience away! Blue blooded ragas will be presented with electric bass and hardcore vocals. The musical men behind “Agam” are Harish, Ganesh, Praveen, Swamy, Vignesh and Jagadish. 20th November will see the confluence of “Two Oceans” as the Australian Art Orchestra teams up with India’s foremost Carnatic drummer, Karaikudi Mani, to create a fusion of Carnatic music and Western Jazz traditions. The evening will reflect the free flow of music, ideas and rhythm spanning the gap between different cultures and traditions. 21st November is slated to be a true “shaam mastani” as Srinivas along with Naresh Iyer, Madhushree and Saptaparna walk down memory lane, remembering Rajesh Khanna and timeless music from his films. Get set for an evening of truly romantic songs: roop tera mastana, mere sapnon ki rani, kuch to log kahenge and many more lilting numbers.
