Types of Degreaser

Business

A degreaser can be prepared at home or can be purchased from the stores. A degreaser for the kitchen sink, cooking range and utensils can be made by making a solution of ammonia, vinegar and baking soda in hot water.Degreasers are chemical products that are used to remove water-insoluble substances like grease, paint, oil, lubricants, corrosion, abrasive dust and all other organic films. Degreaser is generally used as a cleaning agent for removing substances from machines, floors, tools and all hard surfaces.Degreasers have a broad range of applications in aerospace, aircraft, automotive, nuclear power plants, medical laboratories, pharmaceutical, paint, printing, transportation, newspaper, electronics, optics, marine, food and beverage producers and semiconductor industries.Degreasing chemicals can be used to remove oily substances. There are many different types of degreasing chemicals that can be used such as degreasing sprays, powders, detergents and foams. The most common types of degreasers are listed below

Citrus degreasers- Citrus degreasers are eco-friendly degreaser cleaner which has corn and orange as their main ingredients that are used for industrial cleaning purposes. It is a powerful solvent that breaks up masses of grease and other organic materials as it is milder than other more hazardous solvents.

Enzyme Degreaser : An enzyme degreaser contains a large concentration of enzymes created to digest various types of grease and oil. Unlike other cleansers, they do not contain chlorinated solvents or solvents based on butyl. Like citrus degreaser, enzyme degreaser is considered environmentally friendly.

Heavy duty degreaser- are made of special solvent that removes carbon stains, resins, and oils effectively.

Vapor Degreaser : A vapor degreaser requires a vapor degreaser machine. This machine uses a heating coil to bring the cleaning solvent to the boiling point. The liquid solvent is converted into a vapor which is then sprayed onto the area that needs cleaning. Once the vapor hits the colder air, it begins to condense. As the solvent condenses into water, it works on the grease, removing it from the surface. The grease is contained within the liquid solvent.

Butyl Degreaser : Butyl degreasers are typically used in the industrial sector. They are commonly used for engines and for degreasing equipment. Butyl degreasers should be handled with caution as they contain irritating materials and in many cases, require protective clothing and equipment.

Natural degreasers- are biodegradable degreaser cleaner used for household purposes and can also be called as household degreasers

Powder degreasers like talc and cornstarch can be sprinkled onto larege areas, such as carpeting, tile and wood flooring. After allowing them to work for a few hours, the powder can be swept up or vacuumed. It is safe to use vinegar, baking soda, and lemon juice to degrease items in the home without wearing rubber gloves to protect your hands. Wear gloves when using any concentrated, petroleum based or foam degreaser.Wash off petroleum-based degreasers from skin immediately.
