Honda is recalling its Honda CBR 250R bike due to not proper working of its front brakes. The Japanese auto major Honda's wholly-owned subsidiary, Honda motorcycle & scooter India (HMSI), on Monday. That is the company is recalling its 11,500 Honda CBR 250R of standard variants of its premium motor-cycles which were produced & sold between March 2011 & September 2012 dueo to defective brake system. The Honda CBR 250R with the total price of Rs.1.48lakh is recalling & the problem will be solved within one hour. Reason behind recalling of the Bikes Honda claimed the voluntary move is a first of this kind by any 2 wheeler manufacturer in India. The company said "there is a possibility of limited ineffectiveness in front brake application, though this concern doesn't impact the overall braking functionality & effectiveness of front & rear brakes under normal riding conditions". The problem of braking system in Honda CBR 250R brakes will be solved without effecting its warranty status. Honda said will take less than an hour to rectify the problem of braking system of Honda CBR 250R. Honda, afterparting ways with its Indian partner Hero last year, is throwing its full weight behind its subsidiary HMSI. Number of units sold by Honda & other Motor companies With its array of scooters & bikes, Honda edged past Bajaj Auto in domestic two-wheeler sales this year, clocking 1.52million in the April-October period, to claim second position after Hero MotoCorp, which leads the pack with 3.4 million units. Bajaj is now in the third position, selling 1.48 million units. Although Honda registered a 47% growth this financial year, its competitor saw a decline in sales. But Honda's premium bike in the 250cc category, Honda CBR 250R skidded in the market. The 200-250cc category saw a 22% decrease this year so far as market volume fell from 88,920 units to 69,172 units. Bajaj with its Pulsar, Avenger & Kawasaki Ninja portfolio dominates the segment selling 41,954 units in the April to October period, While Hero MotoCorp has sold 23,880 units of Karizma. According to industry body SIAM;s data, Honda sold 3,338 units of Honda CBR 250R in the period against 13,434 units during the same period last year.
