Both ASP and PHP have been the most popular language when it comes of building a dynamic website. Both these languages have the capability to build dynamic websites able to interrelate with database and share information. Platform compatibility of PHP is far better than ASP as the former can run on various platforms like UNIX, Linux, Solaris and windows but the latter one is mainly a windows based program. Most of the tools used in PHP are available free on internet and since it is an open source; there are numerous forums where one could find the codes related to PHP. As far as ASP in concerned, there are no such components installed and they are needed to be installed separately which could incur some capital from you. PHP is based on C++ language and most of the syntax used in it is very similar to C/C++. ASP relies heavily on visual basic kind on syntax and mostly related to Microsoft products. PHP, being extremely flexible, can connect to various databases, the most popular being MySQL. ASP mainly uses MS-SQL. In conclusion, both the languages are most liked by their respective users. Those who like ASP will have thousands of points supporting it as a best programming language. Similarly those who like PHP will have thousands of reasons to declare it as a best programming language. If we talk of performance, both are equally better but as per my conclusion and of many other people connected to PHP development India, best discussion boards are developed in PHP. ASP is better choice for those looking to program some E-Commerce application. This does not mean that PHP cannot provide E-Commerce solutions only that many people choose ASP. Now talking about my point of view, in overall, PHP is far ahead and advanced language than ASP as it is cheap, secure, fast, and reliable.
